FLOWERS!, Part One, 2020

How does one paint a bunch of flowers and make them alive? Working in oils within the tradition of floral still life, Jordan demonstrates, step-by-step, how to set up a convincing rendition of fresh flowers. The course starts with line drawing, setting up placement of the motif in the rectangle, and the architecture of the bouquet and vase. The course then moves into oils in black and white, laying a foundation for overall value relationships and mark-making. The last two sessions Jordan works in color. In addition to his demonstrations and explanations, the webinar offers in depth conversations covering a wide variety of topics relevant to a meaningful painting practice.
