Over the course of the next few months we will be gathering online, every other week, to continue and deepen the conversation.

The selection of readings we will be covering this Winter/Spring will support our larger inquiry into the deeper nature of painting.

We’ll begin with an excerpt from Suzi Gablik‘s essential book, The Reenchantment of Art. The we’ll move into a selection from the classic Art & Fear by David Bayles and Ted Orland. We continue with a chapter frrom Stephen Nachmanovitch‘s The Art of IS, exploring improvisation. This will be followed with an excerpt on the nature of calligraphy from Beyond Representation – Chinese Painting and Calligraphy by Wen Fong.

We’ll also be reading a section from All About Process by Kim Grant. Her chapter, The Artist’s Process as Self-Realization, is quite relevant! This will be followed by an essay from John Berger and then finishing with Linda Nochlin on Mary Cassatt.

Jordan will be facilitating the discussion in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.  Open to painters and non-painters, of all persuasions, world-wide.
