Meeting LIVE Online for 6 sessions, every other Tuesday.

September 13, 27, October 11. November 8, 22, and December 6. (No class meeting on October 25.)

Over the course of the next few months we will be gathering online, every other week, to continue and deepen the conversation.

The selection of readings we will be covering this fall will support our larger inquiry into the deeper nature of painting. 

We will begin with an essay by Rupert Spira, potter and nondual teacher, about Cezanne and beauty.  That will be followed with excerpts from Beyond Representation – Chinese Painting and Calligraphy by Wen Fong. (The language is more contemporary and accessible than the book by George Rowley.) I’ll PDF the excerpts and make them available, but for those interested the book can be found HERE.

Among others that we will be covering include writings by Henri Matisse from Matisse on Art, selections from Henri Focillon, from his book The Life of Forms in Art, R. G. Collingwood, from The Principles of Art, and Mary Jane Jacob, from Dewey for Artists.

Material that we don’t get to in the Fall Session will be covered Winter 2023.

Jordan will be facilitating the discussion in a supportive and friendly atmosphere.  Wine and nibbles recommended, although not essential.  Open to painters and non-painters, of all persuasions, world-wide.
