This Online, 6-Week Course will explore COMPOSITION, through dimensions of Old Master paintings.  Each participant will pick an Old Master painting to explore, working through a step-by-step set of exercises.  Beginning with charcoal and an analysis of the compositional structure.

For those that love Old Master traditional painting, but want to make it their own.  Or maybe just curious!

Giotto!  Piero!  Titian!  Bellini!  Veronese!  Velazquez!  Rembrandt!  Rubens!  Caravaggio!  Gentileschi!

Each class session will include thorough demonstrations, along with time for participants to share, discuss and get feedback on their own work and progress.

Week One: Linear Analysis of Compositional Structure, Charcoal or Graphite

Week Two: Linear Analysis of Compositional Structure, Charcoal or Graphite, continued.

Week Three: Understanding the Value Shaping, Ink Wash, Acrylic or Oils

Week Four: Moving into Traditional Tones, Oils recommended: Black, White, Yellow Ochre, Terre Verte, Venetian Red, recommended canvas size between 12 inches and 24 inches on the larger side.

Week Five:  Traditional tonal painting continued.

Week Six:  Traditional tonal painting continued.

In addition to the demonstrations will be a LIVE ongoing Q&A, allowing for in-depth conversation the nuts and bolts of the exercise, as well as fielding general questions regarding a painting practice.

For all levels.  Course limited to 20 participants.
