Extending the engagement with description from FLOWERS! PART 1, this online intensive will explore different ways of treating the motif of fresh flowers. Moving from descriptive legibility into investigations of form and space, of figure and ground, this workshop will provide an opportunity for risk and discovery. Are there different ways of making marks that will arrive at the motif more indirectly and still satisfy? Are there ways of attending to our specific experience of the flowers that isn’t necessarily value or tonally based? Are there different ways of using color? What can I do with this motif – fresh flowers?

In addition to the demonstrations, time will be made for questions and discussion.

Materials used in the demonstrations will be oil paint. Participants are welcome to use whichever materials are available and suitable for their at-home situation.

All sessions will be recorded and archived and available for viewing.
