How does one paint a bunch of flowers and make them ALIVE? Working in oils within the tradition of floral still life, Jordan will demonstrate step-by-step how to set up a convincing rendition of fresh flowers.
This 3-day workshop teaches how to paint flowers with VERVE!
The morning sessions will focus on gaining clarity of form and color.
The afternoon sessions will explore experimental and playful approaches through gesture and paint handling.
- Morning One we’ll begin with drawing, working with line.
- Morning Two and Three we’ll work with tone and color mixing, exploring how mark can work to create the form directly.
- During the morning sessions we’ll look at paintings by Manet, Van Gogh, and Albert York.
- Afternoon One we’ll begin with drawing, working in charcoal in a direct and gestural manner, exploring space and form though spontaneous mark and perception.
- Afternoon Two and Three will explore using heavy paint!, as well as non-tonal color as a way of discovering the flowers, and how experimenting and risk-taking to can lead to wonderful and unexpected results.
- During the afternoon sessions we’ll look at painters such as Joan Mitchell , Ann Gale and Frank Auerbach.
