Details

This course is designed to provide an opportunity for sustained intuitive exploration. Based on the course developed by Patrick Ahearne, professor emeritus from U.C.S.C., participants will be working on one canvas (approximately 36in. x 42in.) for the entire course as a means of developing a working understanding of a variety of formal elements (line, shape, edge, color, etc.). Going through this course will provide a basis for understanding abstraction as a visual language. The course will also provide experience and confidence in handling the fullness of paint and painting as an improvisational activity, a back and forth exploration with surprising discoveries. Composition as an essential ingredient and ongoing discipline will be emphasized.

Spontaneity and risk will be encouraged!!!

An opportunity will be provided to become acquainted with painting as a form of dialogue and inner discovery.
