DESCRIPTION:Meeting LIVE Online for 8 sessions\, every other Tuesday. \nSeptember 8\, 22\, October 6\, 20\, November 3\, 17\, December 1\, and 15. \nSpace is limited. \nOver the course of the fall months we will gather online\, every other week\, to continue and deepen the conversation. \nWe will be reading Power and Presence: A Handbook for Painting in Our Time.  \nFrom the back cover: \n“Today to try to paint the existent is an act of resistance instigating hope.”  — John Berger \nReading these words in the bookstore of the Tate Modern over twenty years ago led Jordan Wolfson to begin a search for meaning — through his own studio practice and his writing.  Part social discourse\, part spiritual investigation\, and part hands-on painting manual\, this book offers an in-depth exploration of the essential nature of painting\, and why it may be of critical importance for our civilization.  \n“If we are going to survive as a world\, we will need to recognize and embrace our inherent shared Being.  I believe painting\, handmade two-dimensional image making\, has a key role to play in this necessary recognition.”  \nEach meeting we will discuss a chapter of the book.  A few chapters will be covered in two sessions.  The Fall Reading Group session will cover the first part of the book and we will continue in the Winter session with the second part of the book. \nJordan will be facilitating the discussion in a supportive and friendly atmosphere. \nWine and nibbles recommended\, although not essential.  Open to painters and non-painters\, of all persuasions\, world-wide. \n\nA Mighty Networks Group page will be provided for posting our work\, for supportive community and creative sharing.
