POWERFUL PAINTING gets made when we show up FULLY. This workshop is a hands-on, guided introduction to PRESENT-MOMENT MAKING.

Learn to paint with intention and mindful engagement. This workshop provides an opportunity to slow down, focus your attention, and connect deeply with your creative process. Whether you're new to painting or experienced, you'll explore how present-moment making can quiet the mind, empower your work, and bring a sense of clarity into your art — and your life.

Day One: PAINT!
We explore the suchness of paint, touching and feeling color as we move directly into our seeing, to experience the present moment - in paint, in color.

Day Two: HERE!
Through a guided meditation and hands-on exercises we'll experience how master painters work the whole painting, imbuing it with presence and life-force.

Day Three: NOW!
What does it mean to integrate the immediacy of our seeing with the whole canvas? How do we use our somatic/body awareness when we paint, and bring power and patience to our practice?
The exercises for this course are designed for a minimum of basic, straightforward materials for painting, either acrylics or oils. Participants will not need complicated supplies or a studio. A list of easily available materials will be available for download upon registration.

"I have been teaching in the studio for decades and have been wanting to bring this instruction to an online group for a number of years now. It’s a deep pleasure teaching people not only to paint – but to see! Over the years I’ve also come to understand how painting can bring a sense of clarity, integration, and present moment awareness and I want to share that path with others!" -- Jordan
Jordan is a painter and a teacher, painting for 50 years and teaching for over 30 years. Jordan received his MFA from Yale School of Art in 1991. Exhibiting both nationally and internationally, Jordan is the recipient of various awards, including the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant, the Ingram Merrill Foundation Grant and a Purchase Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. In his recurring explorations of form, space, and light, Jordan has been investigating the relationships between perception, mark, and Consciousness. This has led to his experience of painting as a life-practice and a means for fundamental understanding. Jordan lives in Colorado, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
