ONLINE INTENSIVE: Abstraction – Figure as Source
Due to our current situation this workshop is moving to an online format. The cost has been lowered accordingly. For participants that have previously registered credit will be given for future workshops and courses.
This four-day workshop will explore the process of figuration and abstraction. Jordan Wolfson will provide a series of demonstrations, working in the morning from direct observation with the figure, experimenting with different ways of investigating the form, as well as different ways of handling and applying paint. In the afternoons Jordan will work on one canvas for the duration of the workshop, using the morning drawings and paintings as source material for an ongoing and improvisational discovery of abstract painting. Students will be encouraged to work in tandem with Jordan, utilizing their own observational morning work to explore an abstract painting in the afternoon. In addition to the demonstrations, time will be given for questions, discussion and review of at-home-work.
