SUMMARY:PLAYING with OLD MASTERS\, online
DESCRIPTION:This Online\, 7-Week Course will explore COMPOSITION\, through dimensions of Old Master paintings.  Each participant will pick an Old Master painting to explore\, working through a step-by-step set of exercises.  Beginning with charcoal and an analysis of the compositional structure\, by the end we’ll end up getting crazy\, and experimenting with marking\, color\, and movement. \nFor those that love Old Master traditional painting\, but want to make it their own.  Or maybe just curious! \nGiotto!  Piero!  Titian!  Bellini!  Veronese!  Velazquez!  Rembrandt!  Rubens!  Caravaggio!  Gentileschi! \nEach class session will include thorough demonstrations\, along with time for participants to share\, discuss and get feedback on their own work and progress. \nWeek One: Linear Analysis of Compositional Structure\, Charcoal or Graphite \nWeek Two: Understanding the Value Shaping\, Ink Wash\, Acrylic or Oils \nWeek Three: Moving into Traditional Tones\, Oils recommended: Black\, White\, Yellow Ochre\, Terre Verte\, Venetian Red\, recommended canvas size between 12 inches and 24 inches on the larger side. \nWeek Four: Traditional Tones\, cont’d \nWeek Five:  Setting it Up and Fooling Around.  Full Palette of Colors\, oils recommended\, canvas size recommended approximately 36 inches on the larger side. \nWeek Six: Exploring the Space and Experimenting with Paint Handling\, not to mention Color! \nWeek Seven: Exploring the Space and Experimenting with Paint Handling\, not to mention Color!
