FLOWERS are a VITAL FORCE!, Part One
Part One will run online for four weeks from July 12 – August 2. Part Two will run online from August 9 – August 30.
Floral still-lifes have been a familiar motif for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Not only lovely to look at – flowers renew our spirit and hearts. There is a clear and life-giving truth in a flower. How do we bring this clarity and vitality into our work?
This course provides hands-on exercises and instruction to paint flowers, not only with objective attention and specificity, but through the lens of our felt life. The weekly demonstrations and exercises will weave the outer beauty of the flower with our inner response and sensibility.
Each week will bring a new set of fresh flowers and a new exercise – designed not only to try to paint the flowers objectively but to encounter them from the inside and invite the flowers to participate with us in the making.
The weekly exercises will relate to the foundational exercises covered in the previous flower courses, but will be quite different in their focus and development. We will be exploring our inward realm in relation to the flowers. While previous experience in the FLOWERS! course is helpful it is not a prerequisite and the course is open and available to all painters.
The engagement with flowers provides a source not only for strong and lively painting but also for our own sense of ground and well-being.
In addition to the demonstrations, we will have ongoing LIVE questions and discussion.
Materials used in the demonstrations will be oil paint. Participants are welcome to use whichever materials are available and suitable for their at-home situation.
A Mighty Networks Members Only Group will be provided for posting our work, for supportive community and creative sharing. Click HERE.
All sessions will be streamed in HIGH DEFINITION, with multiple camera views, providing greatly increased visual acuity of the painted surface and demonstrations.
All sessions will be recorded, archived and available for repeated viewing.
